Sir Edward William Elgar is an English composer whose works are featured in the British and international classical concert repertoire. His compositions include orchestral works such as the Enigma Variations, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, concertos for violin and cello, and two symphonies. His output also features choral works, including The Dream of Gerontius, alongside chamber music and songs. Although often regarded as a typically English composer, his musical influences come from continental Europe.
