Eric Idle is an English actor, comedian, songwriter, musician, screenwriter, and playwright. Born in 1943, he is a British artist known for his work as a member of the comedy group Monty Python and the parody rock band the Rutles. Idle studied English at Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he joined the Cambridge University Footlights. Over his career, he has received a Grammy Award and has been nominated for two Tony Awards.
