# Marin Alsop

Marin Alsop is an American conductor and violinist, born in 1956. She serves as the music director laureate of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, as well as the chief conductor of both the Ravinia Festival and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. Recognized for her achievements, she is the first woman to win the Koussevitzky Prize for conducting and the first conductor to receive a MacArthur Fellowship. Additionally, Alsop was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2008 and joined the American Philosophical Society in 2020.
