Mario Dewar Barrett, known mononymously as Mario, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and dancer born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. After signing to J Records at age 14, he released his self-titled debut studio album in 2002, which reached number nine on the Billboard 200 and contained the Billboard Hot 100 top-five single "Just a Friend 2002". His 2004 second album, Turning Point, yielded his furthest commercial success with the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "Let Me Love You", which won two Billboard Music Awards and received a Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
