54-40 is a Canadian alternative rock band from Tsawwassen, Delta, British Columbia. The band's name is derived from the historical slogan "54-40 or Fight!", which relates to an Oregon boundary dispute during James K. Polk's presidency. Over their career, the group has achieved success in Canada, earning eight Juno Award nominations and securing platinum certifications for four of their albums. Between 1996 and 2016, 54-40 ranked among the top 150 best-selling Canadian artists and the top 50 best-selling Canadian bands in the country.
