Commodores, who are often billed as the Commodores, are an American funk and soul group. The members of the band met while attending Tuskegee Institute, which is now known as Tuskegee University, where most of them were freshmen. After coming together at the institution, the group signed with Motown and first caught the public eye while performing as an opening act on tour.
