King's X is an American rock band formed in Springfield, Missouri, in 1979. Originally known as the Edge and later Sneak Preview, the group settled on its current name in 1985. The long-standing lineup features vocalist and bassist Doug Pinnick, backing vocalist and drummer Jerry Gaskill, and vocalist and guitarist Ty Tabor. Their music blends progressive metal, funk, and soul with vocal arrangements influenced by gospel, blues, and British Invasion rock. Known for lyrics addressing struggles with religion and self-acceptance, the band was pivotal in the early development of progressive metal.
