Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band originating from Los Angeles, California. The group's lineup features lead vocalist and guitarist Adam Levine, rhythm guitarist and keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton, and bassist and keyboardist Sam Farrar. The band's history traces back to February 1994, when original members Levine, Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, and drummer Ryan Dusick first formed a high school group known as Kara's Flowers.
