The LeeVees are a rock band from New York City, formed by Adam Gardner of Guster and Dave Schneider of the Zambonis after their groups toured together. The musicians established the Jewish rock band to write songs about Hanukkah, addressing a lack of contemporary music for the holiday. The band rose to prominence in late 2005 with their debut album, Hanukkah Rocks. While the group eventually realized this initial holiday focus was somewhat narrow, they continue to perform as a band with a strong Jewish identity.
