Howard Hewett Jr. is an American singer-songwriter who rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the group Shalamar. He left the group in 1985 to pursue his solo career, signing with Elektra Records and releasing his debut solo album, I Commit to Love, in 1986. He later returned to Shalamar in 2001. Hewett and Shalamar contributed material to the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack, which won a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media in 1986.
