FAQ:
Do I need any traction? We like companies with traction. We don't really know how to evaluate pre-product or pre-client companies. Exceptions can be made, but we prefer companies with a product already on the market.
Do I need other investors? We love companies that VCs "don't get yet"—if you have traction and unique insight, but investors don't like the idea for some stupid reason, we'd love to learn more.
Do you invest in specific trends? We love companies that are not building the current thing. We generally don't like to invest in hype. If you think that you are building a successful company but it's not trendy right now, we'd love to learn more about it.
Is this an accelerator program? No. We just invest quickly and help you wherever we can.
Do you have a standard deal? No. We generally invest $10k, but under certain circumstances, we can invest more or less. We are also flexible on the valuation.
Do you exclusively invest in companies started by Silicon Valley Fellowship alumni or mentors? Not necessarily—anybody is welcome to apply! That being said, of course we love investing in companies started by our Mentors or Alumni.
Do you have preferred industries or business models? We like and understand SaaS, payments, advertising, marketplaces, and software better. But we can invest in anything.
What are your portfolio companies? We just started investing: Odysseyai (Silicon Valley Fellowship mentor), Anduril and Waveful - where we co-invested with a16z.
How many investments do you plan to make? Our goal is to start with ~10 a year.
Do you invest in specific geographies? Nope, we can invest anywhere! However, we generally prefer companies based in the United States.
