Position Overview

Volunteer position. The UIS executive team operates on a voluntary basis.
Time commitment: [2] hours per week, with a higher commitment around major events.
Reports to the Country Officer and sits on the US Executive Team.

The Role

The Head of Community leads the growth and development of the UIS community in the United States. The role is responsible for bringing Italian students together through events, for the relationship with the presidents of the Italian societies in the network, and for the expansion of UIS to new universities and cities across the country.

Events

  • Plan and deliver the chapter's calendar of social events, from informal gatherings such as aperitivi to larger themed events that strengthen community ties

  • Innovate and diversify the events offered to ensure wide appeal and consistent participation

  • Coordinate community involvement in the Italian Symposium and other UIS USA initiatives

Network and Presidents

  • Own the relationship with the presidents of the Italian societies in the network, ensuring clear communication of initiatives, updates and event plans

  • Maintain an up-to-date map of active societies, their leadership and their level of engagement with UIS

Expansion

  • Identify universities and cities where UIS is not yet present and lead outreach to Italian student groups and local organizations

  • Support the integration of new societies and chapters into the UIS network

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, onboard and coordinate the Community officers, assigning responsibilities and following progress on a regular basis

  • Coordinate with the Marketing team on event promotion and with the Global Community team on shared initiatives

Candidate Profile

  • An Italian student enrolled at a university in the USA

  • Enjoys bringing people together and organizing events in New York and across the East Coast

  • Strong communicator, comfortable building relationships with student leaders at other universities

  • Organized and reliable, able to lead a small team and follow through on plans

  • Fluent in Italian and English

  • Experience in student organizations or event planning is a plus but not required
