HEAD OF EXTERNAL RELATIONS — UIS USA
Executive Team, 2026/2027

Position Overview

Volunteer position. The UIS executive team operates on a voluntary basis.
Time commitment: 4-6 hours per week, with a higher commitment in the months preceding the Italian Symposium.
Reports to the Country Officer and sits on the US Executive Team.

The Role

The Head of External Relations leads the team responsible for the organization's relationships with external speakers, institutions, firms and partner organizations. The role is central to the Italian Symposium, for which the External Relations team identifies, invites and manages the panelists, and to the events UIS USA organizes throughout the year.

Speaker and Panelist Outreach

  • Lead the identification, invitation and confirmation of speakers for the Italian Symposium, coordinating outreach across the team and maintaining a structured tracking process

  • Act as the primary point of contact for confirmed speakers, managing communication and logistics through to the event

Events

  • Plan and deliver events featuring external speakers, including industry professionals, academics and leaders in business, that engage the UIS USA community

  • Coordinate with the Symposium, Community and Marketing teams on event planning and execution

Institutional and Partner Relationships

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Italian institutions in the United States, firms and other organizations, ensuring ongoing collaboration and mutual benefit

  • Support the development of long-term partnerships that strengthen the UIS network and its mission of connecting Italian talent abroad

  • Collaborate with the Global External Relations team to identify speakers and stakeholders aligned with UIS values and goals

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, onboard and coordinate the External Relations officers, assigning responsibilities and following progress on a weekly basis

Candidate Profile

  • An Italian student or young professional based on the US East Coast, passionate about building meaningful connections between Italian talent and external stakeholders; New York based is preferred

  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining professional relationships at senior level

  • Proactive and organized, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines

  • Comfortable leading a small team and working in a collaborative environment

  • Fluent in Italian and English

  • Experience in event planning, relationship management or stakeholder engagement is a plus but not required
