
UIS Spain is recruiting its next Head of Italian Symposium!
Take the lead on one of UIS Spain’s flagship initiatives and shape the next edition of the Italian Symposium, from the initial concept to the final event.
Important: This is a volunteer position. The UIS executive team operates entirely on a voluntary basis.
Time commitment: Approximately 4–6 hours per week, increasing in the weeks leading up to the Symposium.
Reports to the Country Manager and sits on the UIS Spain Executive Team.
The Role
As Spain Head of Italian Symposium, you will lead the organization of one of UIS Spain’s most important annual initiatives.
Following the previous editions of the Italian Symposium in Madrid, you will be responsible for shaping the next edition from initial concept to final execution.
The Symposium brings together students and young professionals with leading voices from business, institutions, academia, entrepreneurship, and culture to discuss topics relevant to Italy and the next generation of Italian talent abroad.
You will coordinate a dedicated team and work closely with every function of UIS Spain to deliver the event.
What You’ll Do
Event Strategy & Programme
Define the concept, theme, format, and objectives of the next Italian Symposium Spain.
Design the event agenda, including keynote speeches, panels, networking opportunities, and other formats.
Develop a detailed project plan with timelines, milestones, responsibilities, and deadlines.
Ensure a consistent and high-quality experience across all parts of the event.
Speakers
Work with the External Relations Team to identify and invite high-profile speakers.
Coordinate speaker participation, schedules, briefing materials, and event requirements.
Ensure professional communication with speakers before, during, and after the event.
Venue & Operations
Identify and secure appropriate venues, including potential university partners.
Coordinate event logistics, registration, catering, technical requirements, and on-site operations.
Develop the event run-of-show and ensure effective execution on the day.
Partnerships & Budget
Work with the Head of Finance to establish the Symposium budget.
Support the development of sponsorship packages and conversations with potential partners.
Ensure resources are allocated efficiently and expenditures remain within budget.
Marketing
Coordinate with the Marketing Team on the launch and promotion of the Symposium.
Develop a communications timeline to drive awareness, registrations, and attendance.
Work with university societies and UIS partners to maximize reach.
Team Leadership
Recruit and lead the Symposium Officers.
Assign workstreams, responsibilities, and deadlines.
Run regular team meetings and monitor progress throughout the preparation period.
Create a collaborative and accountable team environment.
Who We’re Looking For
An Italian student or young professional currently based in Spain, ideally in Madrid or able to be present there regularly.
Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage a complex project from beginning to end.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Comfortable engaging with speakers, universities, companies, and institutions.
Able to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Experience in event planning, project management, student organizations, or team leadership is a strong plus.
Italian and English required; Spanish is a plus.

Application Process
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a 30-minute interview with members of the UIS Spain leadership team.
Selected candidates will join UIS Spain for the 2026/2027 academic year.
