# The Queen of Spades

The Queen of Spades, also known as Pique Dame, Op. 68, is an opera in three acts composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Its Russian libretto was written by the composer's brother, Modest Tchaikovsky, based on the 1834 novella of the same name by Alexander Pushkin, featuring a dramatically altered plot. The production originally premiered in 1890 at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
