A Discussion on Saving, Investing and Taxes for International Families in the U.S.A.

Many successful Italian and foreign-born professionals continue to build their futures in the United States. Some arrive as young entrepreneurs hoping to launch a company, while others bring established careers and specialized expertise that is highly valued in the American market.

What many discover, however, is that obtaining U.S. tax residency significantly increases the complexity of their personal financial lives. From tax rules and investment restrictions to retirement plans and cross-border reporting obligations, the learning curve can be steep. Even long-term residents often wonder what financial and tax challenges they may face if they eventually return to Italy or relocate elsewhere.

This session is organized by COMITES of San Francisco with the expertise of Cerity Partners and will address the issues most commonly encountered by Italians and other international professionals, answer frequently asked questions, and provide practical guidance. The format will include time for Q&A.

The presentation will focus on five key areas:

• Wealth creation and savings strategies, including 401(k) plans, Roth accounts, stock compensation, and retirement planning for new U.S. residents

• Global investment approaches suitable for internationally oriented families

• Real estate considerations, including owning property in the U.S. and maintaining property abroad

• Cross-border tax planning to minimize tax exposure and preserve long-term wealth

• Estate planning and wealth transfer for families with assets spanning multiple countries
