About Event
A single-day combo that captures two of the three most-asked-about San Francisco experiences: a morning visit to Alcatraz Island plus an afternoon out to Muir Woods and Sausalito. If you have one day in the city, this is the maximum-coverage choice.
The morning starts with the ferry to Alcatraz. The island's audio tour walks you through the federal prison years — the cells, the dining hall, the recreation yard — narrated by former inmates and guards. Two to three hours later you're back at the SF waterfront for lunch and a transfer to the afternoon segment.
The afternoon crosses the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin County and lands at Muir Woods National Monument for a walk among the coast redwoods, then continues down to Sausalito for free time on the harbor before returning to the city. The two halves of the day complement each other: the dense human history of Alcatraz in the morning, the quiet of the redwoods and the harbor in the afternoon.
Highlights:
• Alcatraz Island with cell-house audio tour
• Coast redwoods at Muir Woods National Monument
• Free time in the harbor town of Sausalito
• Golden Gate Bridge crossing
• One ticket for two top SF day-trip experiences
Good to know: long day — typically 9–10 hours total. Comfortable walking shoes for the island and the forest. Bring layers for both the ferry and the redwoods. Alcatraz tickets are time-stamped at booking.
