About Event
Pick up a bike at Fisherman's Wharf, follow a clearly marked route along the waterfront, climb up to the Golden Gate Bridge, and ride across it. The bridge crossing is the moment — the views back at the city and out to the Pacific are the kind of thing that ends up on every postcard for a reason.
From the Marin side, the route drops down through Sausalito, a small harbor town with cafés, ice cream, and a waterfront promenade made for a long lunch. When you are ready to head back, you load your bike onto the ferry and cruise back across the Bay to downtown San Francisco — a soft landing after the ride.
Because it is self-guided, you set the pace. Most riders take a half-day to do it, with plenty of time to stop for photos, eat in Sausalito, and wander. The route is mostly flat with one climb up to the bridge; comfort bikes, hybrids, and e-bikes are all reasonable choices.
Highlights:
• Ride across the Golden Gate Bridge under your own power
• Route map and recommended stops included
• Self-paced — leave when you like, lunch where you like
• Ferry return from Sausalito to downtown SF
• Mostly flat with one moderate climb
Good to know: minimum fitness — comfortable riding ~12–15 miles round-trip with one moderate climb. Bring layered clothing (often windy and cool on the bridge), comfortable closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a small backpack for water and a phone. Ferry schedules vary by season — confirm last ferry of the day at check-in. Bridge can close to bikes in severe weather.
