About Event
The classic San Francisco half-day: cross the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin County, walk among the coast redwoods of Muir Woods National Monument, then drop down to the harbor town of Sausalito for lunch and waterfront views back at the city. It is the single most-requested day trip out of SF, and the one most first-time visitors regret not booking.
The redwood walk is the heart of the day. Muir Woods sits in a quiet creek valley where two-hundred-foot trees filter the light into something soft and green, and the boardwalk loops are gentle enough for almost anyone to enjoy. After the forest, Sausalito offers an entirely different mood — small boats in the marina, cafés on the water, the city skyline across the Bay.
A small-group van keeps the day intimate. The guide handles all the driving, parking permits, and timing, so you get the redwoods and the harbor without the stress of navigating Highway 1 or finding a Muir Woods reservation yourself. Return to San Francisco by van, or upgrade to the ferry ride back across the Bay for a different vantage on the way home.
Highlights:
• Coast redwoods at Muir Woods National Monument
• Golden Gate Bridge crossing in both directions
• Free time in the harbor town of Sausalito
• Optional ferry return across the Bay
• Small-group van, guide-driven
Good to know: bring layers — the Bridge and the redwoods are noticeably cooler than the city. Comfortable walking shoes recommended. The route involves moderate walking on flat trails.
