The Premier League is a professional men's association football league in England, representing the highest level of the English football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, the league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the English Football League (EFL). Seasons usually run from August to May, during which each team plays 38 matches, facing every other club once at home and once away. Most games are scheduled for weekend afternoons, with occasional fixtures taking place on weekday evenings.
