Jewels

Jewels is a three-act ballet created for the New York City Ballet. Often described as the first full-length abstract ballet, the production features three related movements: Emeralds, Rubies, and Diamonds. These parts are usually separated by intermissions and can be viewed as three separate ballets linked by jewel-colored costumes. Although the dancers are dressed like jewels, the performance itself does not otherwise relate to gems. Each of the three acts is set to the music of a different composer.
