AMA Supercross Championship
The AMA Supercross Championship is an American motorcycle racing series founded by the American Motorcyclist Association in 1974. As a variant of motocross, supercross features off-road motorcycles competing on constructed dirt tracks with steep jumps and obstacles. These events are typically held inside sports stadiums from January through early May. By the late 1970s, the accessibility and comfort of stadium venues allowed supercross to surpass traditional off-road motocross as a spectator attraction in the United States.
