Pelleas Et Melisande

Pelléas et Mélisande is a five-act opera featuring music by Claude Debussy and a French libretto adapted from Maurice Maeterlinck's symbolist play of the same title. It stands as the only opera Debussy ever completed. The work premiered on 30 April 1902 at the Salle Favart in Paris, presented by the Opéra-Comique. Conducted by André Messager, who helped secure its staging at the venue, the original production starred Jean Périer as Pelléas alongside Mary Garden in the role of Mélisande.
