Acerca de
Jacques Jacob Jordaens was a Flemish painter, draughtsman, and designer of tapestries and prints who lived from 1593 to 1678. A prolific artist, he created biblical, mythological, and allegorical compositions, genre scenes, landscapes, portraits, and illustrations of Flemish sayings. Following the deaths of Rubens and Anthony van Dyck, Jordaens became the leading Flemish Baroque painter of his time. Residing in Antwerp his entire life, he never travelled abroad to study, remaining indifferent to courtly aspirations and avoiding an idealistic treatment of his subjects.
