Amyl and the Sniffers are an Australian pub rock and punk band based in Melbourne. The band takes its name from the slang term for amyl nitrite, also known as poppers, comparing the brief, thirty-second effect of the substance to their own music. Their sound draws comparisons to 1970s punk rock groups such as the Stooges and the Damned. The group's diverse musical influences include Minor Threat, Ceremony, AC/DC, and Sleaford Mods.
