Deep Purple

Deep Purple is a British rock band formed in London in 1968. Recognized as pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, the band originally performed psychedelic and progressive rock before shifting to a heavier sound with their 1970 album, Deep Purple in Rock. Alongside Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, they were considered part of the unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early to mid-1970s. Over their career, they have sold more than 100 million records worldwide and generated spinoff bands such as Rainbow, Whitesnake, and Gillan.
