MotoGP
MotoGP is the Motorcycling World Championship class and the highest class of motorcycle road racing. As the oldest established motorsport world championship, its events are held on road circuits sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). Independent motorcycle racing events have been held since the start of the twentieth century, when large national competitions were often given the title Grand Prix. In 1949, the FIM was founded as the international governing body for motorcycle sport, coordinating rules so select events could become part of official world championships.
