The Maltese Falcon is a 1941 American film noir production written and directed by John Huston, which marked Huston's directorial debut. It is the third film adaptation based on the 1930 novel by Dashiell Hammett. This release followed two previous adaptations of the story: the 1931 version directed by Roy Del Ruth, as well as the 1936 film Satan Met a Lady, directed by William Dieterle.
