The BNP Paribas Open, also known as the Indian Wells Open, is an annual professional tennis tournament held in Indian Wells, California. Played on outdoor hardcourts at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in March, this combined WTA and ATP tournament is part of the ATP 1000 and WTA 1000 events. It is the premier tennis tournament in the Western United States and the second largest across the Americas. Often referred to as the 'fifth Grand Slam,' it is the best-attended tennis tournament outside of the four Grand Slams, featuring the world's second-largest permanent tennis stadium.
