LUCY

LUCY, also known as Saint Lucy or Lucia of Syracuse, is a Roman Christian martyr who died during the Diocletianic Persecution. Venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church, she is one of eight women explicitly commemorated by Catholics in the Canon of the Mass. Her traditional feast day, Saint Lucy's Day, is observed by Western Christians on 13 December. Honored in the Middle Ages, she remained a well-known saint in early modern England and is recognized as one of the best-known virgin martyrs.
