About
The Budos Band is an instrumental music group from Staten Island, New York, formed in 2005 and signed to Daptone Records. The group delivers a sound described as a doom rock Afro-soul big band with a 1970s touch, blending elements of trippy psychedelia, Afro-funk, hard rock, and late-1960s soul. Influenced by Ethiopian music alongside a soul undercurrent, their recordings incorporate 1970s jazz, funk, Afro-Beat, underground rock, and proto-metal. One press release described their style as sounding as if Quentin Tarantino was the music supervisor for a Bond film.
