Dixon
James Ray Dixon was an American zoologist who served as professor emeritus and curator emeritus of amphibians and reptiles at the Texas Cooperative Wildlife Collection at Texas A&M University. A prominent herpetologist, his research focused on morphology-based systematics of amphibians and reptiles globally, with an emphasis on Texas, Mexico, Central America, and South America. Throughout his career, Dixon published prolifically, authoring books, chapters, and peer-reviewed articles, and describing two new genera and many new species.
