Blithe Spirit

Blithe Spirit is a comic play written by Noël Coward, who described the production as "an improbable farce in three acts." The story follows Charles Condomine, a socialite and novelist who hosts a séance conducted by the eccentric medium and clairvoyant Madame Arcati. Hoping to gather material for his next book, Charles finds his scheme backfiring when he is haunted by the ghost of his temperamental first wife, Elvira. The play depicts Elvira's persistent attempts to disrupt Charles's marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost.
