Present Laughter

Present Laughter is a comic play with a title drawn from a song in the play Twelfth Night. The plot depicts a few days in the life of a successful and self-obsessed light comedy actor preparing for a touring commitment in Africa. The protagonist must navigate a series of farcical events, including seduction attempts, a long-suffering secretary, a wife, a crazed young playwright, and an impending mid-life crisis. The lead character serves as a caricature of the author's own real-life persona.
