The Second City

The Second City is an improvisational comedy enterprise and theatre company. Debuting in 1959, it is the oldest improvisational theater troupe to be continuously based in Chicago. The organization, which is considered one of the most influential and renowned in the English-speaking world, also operates training programs and live theaters in Toronto and New York. In February 2021, the enterprise was purchased by ZMC, a private equity investment firm based in Manhattan. Audiences attending a show can expect to see live improvisational comedy.
