George Wallace

George Wallace was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 45th and longest-serving governor of Alabama. He was also the longest-serving governor from the Democratic Party. Wallace ran for the United States presidential nomination three times as a Democrat, and once under the American Independent Party. During the 1968 presidential election, he carried five states, achieving a rare moment where a third party secured electoral seats independent of the de-facto two-party system.
