A Tribe Called Quest
A Tribe Called Quest was an American hip-hop group formed in Queens, New York City, in 1985. Originally composed of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White, the band co-founded the Native Tongues collective in 1988. Widely recognized as pioneers of alternative hip-hop and jazz rap, they have been described by AllMusic's John Bush as the most intelligent and artistic rap group of the 1990s, while Pitchfork's Kris Ex regarded them as one of the greatest acts in hip-hop history.
