Public Works
Public Works is an umbrella organization that produces and releases the work of The Tape-beatles, an American multi-media group. Formed in Iowa City in December 1986, the group's members have included Lloyd Dunn, John Heck, Ralph Johnson, Paul Neff, and Linda Morgan Brown. They use collage techniques, analog tape recorders, digital technology, and film to create works challenging intellectual property. Their performances and recordings consist of noise music, audio art, expanded cinema, videos, and printed publications, utilizing materials appropriated from various sources through a process they call "Plagiarism®".
