The Hobbit
The Hobbit is a trilogy of fantasy adventure films directed by Peter Jackson, serving as a prequel to his Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Based on J. R. R. Tolkien's 1937 novel of the same name, the film series consists of three installments: An Unexpected Journey (2012), The Desolation of Smaug (2013), and The Battle of the Five Armies (2014). The production incorporates additional material and new characters created specifically for the films, drawing further inspiration from the appendices of Tolkien's 1954–55 work, The Lord of the Rings, to expand the original story.
