Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical is a rock musical that reflects the hippie counterculture and sexual revolution. The work defined the rock musical genre, featuring a racially integrated cast and inviting the audience onstage for a finale. The story follows a group of politically active, long-haired hippies living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War. These friends struggle to balance their young lives, loves, and rebellion against their conservative parents and society as they face decisions about resisting the draft.
