Band
New Edition
New Edition is an American R&B and pop group from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1978. Named to represent a new edition of the Jackson 5, the group is considered the blueprint for the modern boy band and reached its peak popularity in the 1980s. The original lineup featured Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, and lead singer Ralph Tresvant, performing early hits like "Candy Girl" and "Cool It Now." Johnny Gill joined in 1987 after Brown's departure, before the group paused joint operations in the early 1990s.
