The Fantasticks

The Fantasticks is a musical loosely based on the play Les Romanesques. The production tells an allegorical story about two neighboring fathers who trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud. Characterized by a poetic book and a breezy, inventive score, the show is performed with a small cast, a two- to three-person orchestra, and a minimalist set design. It remains a staple of regional, community, and high school theater, with approximately 250 new productions staged each year.
