Band
The Meters
The Meters are an American funk band formed in New Orleans in 1965. The group's original lineup consisted of drummer Zigaboo Modeliste, bassist George Porter Jr., guitarist Leo Nocentelli, and keyboardist Art Neville. From the late 1960s until 1977, the band performed and recorded their own music, including original songs like "Cissy Strut" and "Look-Ka Py Py." In addition to their own work, they served as influential backing musicians for several notable artists, such as Lee Dorsey, Robert Palmer, Dr. John, and Allen Toussaint.
