Werther is an opera in four acts by Jules Massenet, featuring a French libretto by Édouard Blau, Paul Milliet, and Georges Hartmann. First presented as an 1892 opera, this production is loosely based on Goethe's epistolary novel The Sorrows of Young Werther, which itself was based on Goethe's own early life. Attendees will see an adaptation of a story that was also made into earlier operas by Kreutzer in 1792 and Pucitta in 1802.
