Empire Classic
The Empire Classic is an annual preseason college basketball tournament held in November at the start of the season and televised on ESPN. First played in 1995 as the Atlantic City Shootout, produced by the Gazelle Group, Inc., the event became the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in 1996 to raise funds for cancer research. In 2012, its beneficiary changed to the Wounded Warrior Project, leading to the name 2K Sports Classic, which was officially renamed the 2K Empire Classic Benefiting Wounded Warrior Project in 2019.
