Mariza
Mariza is a Portuguese fado singer. Originally from Lourenço Marques, Portuguese Mozambique, she moved to Metropolitan Portugal during her childhood and was raised in the historic Lisbon quarters of Mouraria and Alfama. She began her musical journey singing a wide variety of styles, including gospel, soul, and jazz. She later adopted the traditional fado style, encouraged by her father to embrace the genre to gain greater acceptance within the Portuguese community.
