Deer Tick is an American alternative rock-folk band from Providence, Rhode Island. The band's music blends rock with folk, blues, and country influences, though they actively reject the country label and avoid singing with a twang. In their live sets, the band regularly performs cover versions. The group's name was inspired by an encounter with a deer tick during a hiking trip in the Morgan–Monroe State Forest in Indiana.
